Hokusai had pursed his style of depicting, and looked ahead to the future.
His achievements and sprit give us ideas for our creation of new value. 
The Sumida Hokusai Museum provides a oppotunity to enjoy Hokusai's works with an aim of  "a Growing Musuem".
We share the attractions of Hokusai who can be said  the symbol of Jananese traditional culture with Japan and the world.

The Sumida Hokusai Museum was open in November 2016 on the remains of the mansion of the Tsugaru family of the Hirosaki Domain, and this is a site with a deep connection to Hokusai.  The museum was built after nearly 30 years from the planning. During these years, many precious works were donated by collectors and researchers by courtesy. Thanks to everyone’s cooperation including co-founders of companies and groups, individuals, those who supported our exhibitions, especially so many visitors who visited our museum, the museum has continued to grow. We are deeply grateful for all of their support.
Amid the significant turning point socially, we have raised more expectations on the various values created by culture and art.  According to our basic philosophy, we will share information about Hokusai with the local community and the world and continue to grow, and create the various opportunities for cultural exchange where everyone has a great time through “Hokusai”.
We look forward to welcoming you at our museum.
