Tasty exhibition?! You can eat Edo food at our collaborating Cafés

During the "Oedo Gourmet and Hokusai" exhibition, we will hold collaboration Cafés that you can taste the Edo cuisine displayed at this exhibition. In addition to enjoying exhibited works with eyes, you can understand food culture by tasting it. Because there are many Cafés offering special coffee in Sumida City, we got cooperation from Cafés near our museum and this project will be held.Based on the recipes made in Edo period, the Café serve Edo cuisine as a lunch supervised by a professor. Others serve confectionary in contemporary style inspired by sweets in Edo period.

Some menus are reproduced from the replica of dishes of Edo period. ORI TOKYO will offer a plate supervised by Mr. Ayako EHARA (Professor Emeritus of Tokyo Genju Gakuin University) who will have the lecture of this exhibition.

■People who lived in Edo likes sweet things?! Arranged "Edo sweets" in contemporary style!
“Kenpin” (けんぴん) is baked sweets made from wheat walnuts, black sesame seeds, sugar and soy sauce, “Kakigoromo”(かきごろも) is fried dried persimmon in which put chestnut, "Kori tofu"(こおりどうふ) is Japanese agar confection made from tofu and Japanese agar.  Please enjoy these sweets tailored to present taste.
