Tasty exhibition?! You can eat Edo food at our collaborating Cafés

During the "Oedo Gourmet and Hokusai" exhibition, we will hold collaboration Cafés that you can taste the Edo cuisine displayed at this exhibition. In addition to enjoying exhibited works with eyes, you can understand food culture by tasting it. Because there are many Cafés offering special coffee in Sumida City, we got cooperation from Cafés near our museum and this project will be held.Based on the recipes made in Edo period, the Café serve Edo cuisine as a lunch supervised by a professor. Others serve confectionary in contemporary style inspired by sweets in Edo period.

2nd Anniversary of the museum opening "Distribution of leaflets "Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji"

To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the museum opening, we distribute special leaflets "Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji" in which you can see all pieces of the series, to the first 200 visitors.

Period: 6 days from November 20 (Tuesday) to 25 (Sunday)
Place: Library (One book per 1 person)

In the event of distribution, please show entrance tickets (annual passport, Gurutto pass, permanent or special exhibition ticket) at the museum's library counter.

Summer Museum Cinema ” The Night of the Milky Way Train”

The animation Film ”The Night of the Milky Way Train” will show in the museum. ” The Night of the Milky Way Train ” is based on well-loved Japanese novel written by MIYAZAWA Kenji. Original story is by MASUMURA. Two cats Charactors; Giovanni and his friend Campanella, go on a metaphysical journey on a magical railroad train. It was made into film based on cat character which was MASUMURA.

Making sea urchin mini lamp (only in Japanese)

Let’s make a mini lamp by using sea creatures such as a shell of sea urchin and coral. First, choose a shell of sea urchin then decorate with parts such as coral, beads. You can make orginal mini lamp. Lecturer tell you small story about sea creatures depicted by Hokusai.

Enjoy playing Hokusai SUGOROKU surpervised by us, which is like the game of life ver.Hokusai. Player can learn Hokusai’s life through playing the game. Children can also enjoy Japanese traditional game such as shooting game. Museum’s official comedian Katsushika Futome/Gyorome join in this party!

Sumida Sakura Festival

Pop-up shops sell soft drinks, bier and Sakura Mochi which is Japanese sweet Hokusai liked. We provide Workshop Making participants make original button badge and experience printing by 3 different stamps. Both parents and children can enjoy this workshop.
